Hello world! Have YOU had Your Happy Today? The Spirited Health Concept.
“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.Buddha“
Ok so what is it we all mule around this earth looking for? What is it that we naturally want to come to us? Is it to attain success, get married or find love, and have kids? Or is it about waiting for Friday afternoon to arrive so you can finally be relieved of your work-week havoc? What is it that truly makes our lives purposeful? I think it is Happiness. Don’t we all just want to be happy? Isn’t being happy the virtue we tie to all things we want in life? YES… Happiness is almost everything.
Have you ever said… “If only _____ , then I would be happy with my life!”? I am guessing yes… (note: you should continue reading if this is the case)
If you are still reading, you are in the large majority, so don’t worry if you are feeling like a Negative Nancy just yet. Interestingly, many people are content with their lives but they are not happy.
Many of us believe happiness and peace of mind do not fit in with becoming/being successful because happiness and stress cannot co-exist.
*Gosh, this is so wrong on so many levels. I think many of us are so wrapped up in our everyday stress-filled lives that we begin to forget exactly what it is we are here for…To enjoy life.
This is because happiness is what makes everything in life so much better. What if we were happy with our jobs, financial situations, our bodies or our health, our relationships, our family, our sleep schedule, our sex lives…EVERYTHING? Consider everything we always say
”If ” about in our lives, was satisfying … I ask then, would we really be happy? NO probably not.
The fact is, that many of us sacrifice emotional harmony by focusing on our daily stresses.
TRUE FACT: Being happy makes you a healthier person, and stressing over the little things can have a viral effect on the body in many ways making you a more unhappy and unhealthy person.
Pretty much, as Zen as it may sound, the mind and body are one. What you feel and mentally engage in affects the body and vice versa.
WHERE WE GO WRONG: We all too often end up placing due dates and times on when we will be happy. We often tolerate things which create our stress and unhappiness because, we think it is just part of life. Part of the American way has become stressed out to the brim of our coffee mugs as we run through life on autopilot… Through work or school, through our errands and everyday obligations back home and planning for what is next, while all along thinking how relieved we will be when finished with that next task, goal, project or deadline. Are we though?… (usually not)
There is no relief however, this my friends is what researchers call the Hedonic Treadmill.
The egotists out there are serving their bodies and minds well with their dose of happy and gaining the health benefits from it. It truly is beneficial to your mind/body and spiritual health to become a more happy you and be more in tune with you. Have you become a human doing instead of a human being? (it’s okay to admit it, you’re not the only one.)
if so…
I now invite you to (non-egotistically) join me on an exploration to find your inner peace towards a happier and healthier YOU!
WELCOME TO SPIRITUAL HEALTH!!
Note: Being happy is not like a diet. Feeling healthy is not that blissful feeling you get as you clasp the button on that fabulous pair of jeans in your closet that only fit post 3-day starvation. Being happy, in essence, is a lifestyle… A lifestyle that I am sure you will appreciate and feel much better about because it is blissful every day.
I will, in this blog introduce you to four virtues, from which EVEN YOU can achieve happy health from. These virtues are about redirecting your mind and body back with your spirit and remembering what it is to be YOU. When you focus your energies on others all the time, be sure to focus some of that energy on you too…. give yourself that, you really do deserve it.
I encourage comments and questions so please speak your mind and tell me what you think!
Merrily yours,
Marissa
